The following administrative changes resulted in structural realignments affecting the location of degree programs and courses across colleges since Fall Semester 2001.

Fall 2008 Lyman Briggs School Moved from College of Natural Science to become Lyman Briggs College.
Fall 2007 School of Music Moved from College of Arts and Letters to become the College of Music.
Fall 2007 Residential College in the Arts & Humanities Establishment of College.
Fall 2005 College of Law
(formerly MSU Detroit College of Law)
Integration of curriculum into academic governance.
Summer 2005 College of Human Ecology Dissolved and transferred curriculum to other colleges. (Arts & Letters, Communication Arts & Sciences, Agriculture & Natural Resources and Social Science)
July 1, 2004 Dept of History Moved from College of Arts and Letters to the College of Social Science.
July 1, 2001 Dept of Economics Moved from College of Business to College of Social Science.
Fall 2001 Dept of Entomology Moved from College of Natural Science to College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Still jointly administered with College of Natural Science.

The following administrative changes resulted in departmental realignments since Fall 2001.

Fall 2004 Depts of ANR Education and Communication Systems; Park, Recreation and Tourism Resources; and Resource Development Dissolved and reassigned to Dept of Community, Agriculture, Recreation and Resource Studies.
July 1, 2003 Dept of Romance and Classical Languages Split into two departments: French, Classics and Italian - Spanish and Portugese.
July 1, 2001 Dept of Materials Science and Mechanics Dissolved and reassigned to other departments within the College of Engineering.
