About the Office of the Registrar, the "RO"
Our main office is located in 150 Administration Building, and we are available to assist students, faculty and staff, administrators, and the general public during the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Mission
The Office of the Registrar (RO) is the official University steward of student academic records on behalf of students and the Michigan State University community. The Registrar’s Office collects, maintains, preserves, and distributes academic data with accuracy and integrity while maintaining and enforcing the standards set by federal and state laws and University policies and procedures. The Office of the Registrar is an academic service unit committed to the support of the teaching, research and service foci of Michigan State University. The RO recognizes the populations it serves and strives to provide responsive and professional support and access for students, faculty, staff, and the public.

  • The Office of the Registrar, as one of three units in Enrollment Services, works with the Office of Admissions and the Office of Financial Aid to provide services to students, faculty, staff and the public.
  • Enrollment Services units report to the Associate Provost for Academic Services and collaborate with other units to achieve efficient and effective delivery of academic services across the University.

  • Student records and records retention: Grade collection and recording (including CIC Traveling Scholar and Co-Sponsored Study Abroad Programs), transcripts, and Continuing Education Units (CEU’s)
  • Graduation audit, awards, and diplomas
  • Athlete, veterans, degree, teacher, and enrollment certification
  • Student and Faculty/Staff identification cards
  • Specialized data extraction, manipulation, and reporting
  • Printed and on-line publications and calendars: Faculty and Staff Directory, Spartan Planner, Academic Programs, Course Descriptions, and Commencement Program
