Online and Off-campus Programs
Michigan State University, located in East Lansing, Michigan (USA) provides students with learning opportunities that
extend beyond its East Lansing campus. Select academic programs are offered partially or totally online while others
may be completed at off-campus locations across the state of Michigan. The information presented below highlights
such learning opportunities.
Online Courses
Over 100 graduate and undergraduate courses are offered via the Internet. Courses offered online can be found in the Schedule of Courses by clicking the "Online & Hybrid" icon under Special Searches. You can also search for online and hybrid courses by checking the "online courses" box under custom search. Online and hybrid courses may require regularly scheduled classroom time or face-to-face contact (for requirements such as exams, labs, etc.). Such requirements will be noted in the Schedule of Courses.
Online Programs
The U.S. Department of Education requires an institution offering distance education programs to acquire authorization from the states in which it operates (specific regulations vary from state to state). Michigan State University is not seeking authorization in Arkansas or Maryland. Students who are residents of Arkansas or Maryland are not eligible to apply to MSU online programs.
Academic programs delivered totally online or via hybrid format are listed below.
"Online" under Delivery column indicates the program is offered totally online.
"Hybrid" under Delivery column indicates that the program is comprised of courses that are offered in a hybrid (blended) format. A hybrid course is one that blends online instruction with less than 50% face-to-face instruction on- or off-campus.
